Global Entry vs. Sentri: Difference and Comparison

One of the Trusted Traveler Programs of the US Customs and Border Protection Department is the SENTI program.

Global Entry is included but not the same as SENTRI. Land border crossings from Mexico can be used for expedited access into the U.S. Global Entry members don’t automatically get SENTRI, but since they undergo a thorough background check, they are given benefits.

What is the difference between Global Entry NEXUS and SENTRI?

Why is SENTRI more than Global Entry?

Can I use my Global Entry card in the SENTRI lanes?

Global Entry cards can be used to enter the U.S. from land and sea ports of entry. The NEXUS lanes and kiosks do not accept Global Entry cards for entry into Canada. At Global Entry kiosks, passports or U.S. lawful permanent resident cards are not accepted. When using the Global Entry card at land and sea ports of entry, holders must follow all program rules.

Is Global Entry the same as SENTRI pass?

You will need your passport or U.S. Lawful Permanent Resident card when you use the Global Entry kiosk. The Global Entry cards can’t be used when entering the United States via air.

Can Global Entry Use SENTRI lanes in Mexico?

Yes, that is correct. Even though Global Entry cards are accepted in the SENTRI lanes, the vehicle you drive must still be Enrolled in the program.
