Porosity vs. Permeability: What’s the Difference?

Bothosity and Permeability are related, but they are not.

Permeability is how easy it is for a fluid to move through a porous rock.

What is the difference between porosity?

Rocks and soil have different permeability andosity properties. porosity is a measurement of space between rocks and permeability is a measurement of how easy it is for fluids to flow between rocks

Does high porosity mean high permeability?

A measure of permeability is the degree to which the spaces are connected. Low permeability is usually the result of low porosity. It’s possible to have a rock with little or no connecting points. A good example of a rock with high porosity and low permeability is a vesicular volcanic rock, where the bubbles that once contained gas give the rock a high porosity but are not connected to one another.
